What is Permit Book?

Permit Book is a revolutionary new way to manage commercial truck, trailer and driver documents electronically from getting them to the driver instantly to warning and searching for expiring documents.

How does Permit Book work?

Permit Book allows key regulatory documents to be electronically loaded into the system, a new expiration date feature for these documents, and assigned to a driver, truck or trailer. The driver can then access and view these documents by logging into the Permit Book mobile application where the documents are cached and made available for display even when off-line. The app is an easy reference of documents stored under category headings such as Company documents, Driver Documents, Truck Documents and Trailer documents and if the documents are coming up to be expired.

Is Permit Book legal to use?

Documents in general, either paper or electronic, are accepted by law enforcement. As of January 1, 2019, electronic copies of International Registration Plan (IRP) apportioned commercial truck registrations (cab cards) and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) licenses are required to be accepted in all jurisdictions by rule. What if I get pulled over and I have no cell phone service?

Permit Book documents are automatically loaded, updated and cached whenever the application is in a cell phone service area. Because these documents are cached locally, they are accessible from the mobile application even when not in a cell service area.

What if the officer refuses to touch my phone to see the documents?

Permit Book uses the phone or smart device’s functionality of attaching a document to a text or email. The requested document can be sent to the inspector when they give the driver their email.

How do I set up an account?

A Permit Book account can only be set up by contacting our Permit Book team with our contact form. After a quick discussion, we will create a company and admin account for you, an email will be sent from Permit Book to “Get Started”, and the account set-up process can begin. How do I change my account information?

If you are having issues changing any account information, please fill out our contact form and select “Support” field. Our Permit Book team can help you with any support issues. Fill out support form here. 

How is Permit Book billed?

Permit Book is a subscription service billed in advance on a monthly basis, based on how many drivers are created in your account.

How do I report a problem?

The Permit Book application has built in functionality to report issues or simply ask a question! From the application menu, select Help & FAQ, and simply type in your question. Our staff is available Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm Standard Pacific. Fill out support form here. 

What devices will Permit Book work with?

Permit Book works on both iOS and Android devices.

What desktop browsers will PermitBook.com work with?

PermitBook.com works on most browsers (Google Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari – which makes up ~97% of usage). However, logging into your manager account on the internet is not compatible with IE11 (which only has ~2% usage). If using IE and having login errors, please try a new browser.
